Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does a typical day look like?

The Comprehensive Health Assessment is a thorough preventive and diagnostic exam, which emphasizes healthy lifestyles, risk factor management, and changing personal behavior. Each person leaves the program with a schedule for periodic health maintenance, plans to manage specific problems and exercise, stress management, and nutrition plans.

For a new patient, the initial examination takes between six and seven hours. For a returning patient, please allow four to five hours. Keep in mind that appointments requiring additional tests or consultations may take 24 to 48 hours longer.

  • How far in advance to I need to schedule my appointment?

Please allow at least two to four weeks for the first available appointment. If you require additional tests or consultations not included in the basic package (see Additional Services), you may need to allow an additional six to eight weeks depending on the types of tests or consultations you require.

Please note that if you require additional studies, it may extend your stay. Our Program Coordinator will discuss the options with you at the time your appointment is scheduled.

  • Are programs covered by insurance?

The Executive Health Program now offers the option to have labs and studies included in your Comprehensive Health Assessment filed to insurance. Payment of the program fee or package is required at the time of visit, unless previous arrangements have been made with your company for billing. Additional testing may or may not be covered by insurance. We encourage you to contact your health insurance provider and ask about any possible coverage for services.

  • What is the cancellation policy?

If you must cancel your appointment, please call 919-660-6606 at least ten days in advance.

APPOINTMENTS MAY NOT BE CANCELLED BY EMAIL.

  • Does this conflict with my primary physician?

No. Duke Executive Health does not replace your primary care physician. A copy of your health plan and test results will be sent to you within approximately three to four weeks of your visit. We encourage you to furnish your primary care physician with a copy of this summary so that it can become part of your permanent medical record.

The Duke Executive Health physician remains available for consults for both you and your primary care physician, if needed. Your Duke Executive Health physician cannot serve as your primary care physician.
